I am a licensed massage therapist with the State of Colorado, I have also taken classes to become a Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist, continuing my education with healthy kids touch therapy as well as Pediatric Massage advanced classes.

Kiddos benefit from massage
Research has shown that pediatric massage can aide and enhance physiological, neurological and psychological development. Massage can reduce stress hormones which can provide relief from common childhood conditions such as, asthma, nausea, constipation, headaches and growing pains, impairments such as joint injury, muscle pain, contractures, anxiety, stress, sleep disturbances, and sensory disturbances. It has been shown to improve immune function, keeping those pesky colds and flus away. In addition, pediatric massage helps kids sleep better, can enhance body image and calms behavior.

Pediatric massage is not what you think of as the typical massage
In order to be age and developmentally appropriate, many pediatric massage therapy sessions are done on yoga mats, or their favorite place on the couch or bed, with tactile toys and puppets, while engaging the child in play and song. Nurturing Touch is applied over clothes. Each session is designed for what the kiddo needs that day.
*Children under 18 must have parental consent to receive massage, and the parents are often encouraged or required to be present in the massage area.

Kiddos comfort is the key
I provide nurturing touch to a child. It is important to establish rapport and trust from the very beginning. I am fully aware of visual and non-visual cues that the kiddo gives in order to back off or continue with massage.
I provide home visits, this will ensure that the kiddos feel safe and able to truly enjoy the benefits of a therapeutic massage.
